Art and experimenting with different mediums has always fascinated me. Wherever there was a pencil and a piece of paper I was drawing. Art was not what I chose for a career but when I could I would take various art classes and I designed and painted sets for our local community theatre. After my husband Clyde and I retired and moved to Granbury to be closer to our daughter, we were soon blessed with two wonderful grandsons. After the started school I decided to take art classes taught by Yvonne Sailers and with her knowledge and encouragement I am back doing what I love to do. With her and my family and friends’ encouragement, I had my own art show “Back Home in Indiana”, have entered various art shows, received some awards and now teach a class at Pecan Plantation and on occasion do private lessons. My work has been on display around Granbury and currently on display at Uptown Arts.
Artists experiment and develop their own creative style which makes their work unique. I am still experimenting and studying with different mediums, but oil painting was my first interest, and seems to take priority. I love the challenge of studying the subject, coming up with the composition, taking a black piece of paper or canvas and watching it become a landscape you can walk into, a still life where different shapes become something, a portrait where you can share their feelings or just a creative piece by using different shapes, colors, or lines. While painting I remove myself from what is going on around me and go to where, what, or whom I am painting…..I hope it takes you there too!
