Yvonne Sailers Bio
Yvonne Sailers was born and reared in Sherman, Texas. She was the 13th child in the family of 13 children born to Rosa Lee and Richard Stipe. “I can’t remember a time in my life when I did not paint”, says Yvonne. “One of her earliest accomplishments was a mural she did on the wall in their home at age 3. Yvonne met Roy when she was 17 and married him two years later. Roy was in the Air Force and they moved often. Each location provided her with opportunities to study and practice her love for painting. After Roy’s retirement from the Air force, they moved to Texas and lived in Midlothian for 21 years. She received her associate’s degree from NavarroCollege and attended UT Arlington to obtain more art. In 1994, they had both retired. She from the Army Air Force Exchange and he from Allstate Insurance. They decided to move to beautiful Granbury and build their dream home on the banks of the Historic Brazos River. The river and surrounding landscape are the themes of many of Yvonne’s paintings. She loves to paint plein air and has some humorous stories to share about those outings. Yvonne has many awards to her credit but her greatest accomplishment has been the opportunity to share her knowledge and skill with others. Monday mornings she holds a class in the community in which she resides. Recently she and 11 of her students showed their work at the Shanley House Gallery in Granbury.
